Save Our Shore by Drinking Abita Beer

Our friend @magicalmirror1 on Twitter sent out a great message that we at The Beer Traveler feel should be passed along. Abita Beer is releasing a “Save Our Shore” brew to collect funds to help those affected by the Gulf oil spill. Being a local company based in Abita Springs, LA, Abita along with the help from the Louisiana Seafood Promotion & Marketing Board created “SOS – A Charitable Fund”, which will “assist with the rescue and restoration of the environment, industry and individuals fighting to survive this disastrous oil spill” (abita.com).

Here’s where you come in – for every “SOS – A Charitable Pilsner” beer that is sold, Abita will donate 75 cents. The beer will be released in mid-July, but you can go to their website now to purchase merchandise with 100% of the net proceeds going to the campaign. Easy enough, right? Buy some beer and a t-shirt (which has a really cool logo anyway), and your money goes to a great cause that will help those whose lives have been directly impacted by one of the biggest disasters of US history.

Drink up!
